7 DAYS SAFARI & GORILLAS IN RWANDA, APRIL 2025

Día 1: ARRIVE IN KIGALI

Upon landing at Kigali International Airport and after completing the immigration and baggage claim procedures, a driver from the local team will be waiting for you to drive you to the hotel.

Day 2: AKAGERA NATIONAL PARK

At the indicated time the day before, transfer by road to Akagera National Park entrance gate. Here a driver-guide will be waiting for you to drive you to the camp whilst doing safari.

This afternoon firs safari activity in Akagera National Park. Besides game drives the camp staff can schedule boat safaris on Rwanyakazinga lake.

Thanks to the great conservation efforts and initiatives of the Rwandan government, Akagera National Park is recovering its splendor. The Big 5 (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhinoceros) inhabit the park, as well as water antelopes, impalas, giraffes, crocodiles, hippos, zebras and many other animals.

Days 3 and 4: SAFARIS IN AKAGERA NATIONAL PARK

During these 2 days there will be 2 safaris per day, one in the very early morning and another in the afternoon. The objective will be to enjoy the beauty of the Akagera landscape as well as the fauna that inhabit here. Akagera is a great example of conservation and ecological recovery.

Day 5: VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast, early in the morning and at the indicated time the night before, transfer by road to the departure point of the Akagera National Park where the driver-guide with the closed 4×4 vehicle will be waiting to make the transfer by road to the Volcanoes. .

Today will be long, approximately 5 to 6 hrs by road until reaching the vicinity of the Volcanoes National Park where the accommodation is located. Those who wish to avoid this long road trip, optionally can do this transfer by helicopter. The flight from Akagera Heliport to Musanze Heliport is approximately 40 minutes. Here the driver-guide will be waiting with the vehicle to transfer you to the accommodation (approx. 25 minutes).

Day 6: GORILLA TREKKING

This is going to be a special day. First thing in the morning the driver-guide will take you to the offices of the Volcanoes National Park headquarters. In the office  you will be assigned the family you are going to visit. You will meet the park guide who will take you to the gorillas. He will give an explanation about the gorillas that you are going to visit and then he will inform your guide-driver of the starting point of the trekking since depending on the location of the gorillas it may be necessary to get to the point where the trekking begins by car.

Trekking to the gorillas can vary from 1 to 4 hours, depending on where they are located. The trackers will be the ones who lead the way until they reach the gorillas. Once contact is made, you will have 60 minutes to enjoy observing it, taking photographs and videos. After 60 minutes, the park guide will end the stay with the gorillas and will direct us back to the point where the 4×4 waits for the transfer back to the accommodation.

Afternoon to rest from today’s intense day. The time of return to the accommodation is unpredictable due to the distance at which the gorillas are and the pace they take. It is essential to have good physical preparation, at least to be able to walk for 5 hours.

Day 7 : ROAD TRANSFER TO KIGALI INT. AIRPORT – END OF YOUR SAFARI

After breakfast and check out (around 10:00 am) transfer by road to Kigali International Airport. The safari and our services end when we drop you off at the airport. We recommend that your flight be from 5:00 p.m.
